Global warming seminars and conferences are being conducted everywhere. Each and everyday we hear debates about these issues in News reports and other media channels. So, actually what is global warming (or Greenhouse effect)?? And why there is a growing concern about these issues??

Greenhouse effect and Global warning are related to each other. Actually, Greenhouse effect is a phenomenon that leads to Global warming. The trapping of infrared solar radiations by earth's atmosphere is known as greenhouse effect. Earth's atmosphere acts as a greenhouse. Actually it’s the atmospheric gases, mainly carbon dioxide, which traps the infrared radiations. This phenomenon keeps our earth warm and prevents it from cooling excessively during nights. It works in the same way as a Green house.

Earth's atmosphere allows small wavelength (high frequency) infrared radiations that are coming from sun, to pass through it. These infrared rays pass through the atmosphere and heats up the earth. When earth gets heated it also starts emitting infrared radiations. Since earth is less hot than sun (many many times), the radiations emitted by it are of large wavelength. The atmosphere does not allow the larger wavelength radiations to pass through it and reflects it back to earth. These again cause heating of earth surface. This whole process is known as Greenhouse effect. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas. More concentration of CO2 in atmosphere will lead to higher rate of infrared ray trapping, which in turn will increase the temperature of earth. This will lead to Global warming. Hence due to Greenhouse Effect the temperature of earth is constantly increasing (Global Warming).

Steady State Theory

In this post I will try to explain about Steady state theory. It is the less popular one. Although it has many flaws and discrepancies, still it is the main competitor for Big Bang.

As the name suggests, according to Steady state theory universe is constant it never changes. This theory states that even if Universe is expanding the relative density of the universe remain constant. The steady state theory asserts that although the universe is expanding, it does not change its look over time or in other words it has no beginning and no end. So, this theory requires that new matter must be continuously created so as to keep the overall density constant. Matter is mostly created in the form of hydrogen.

Flaws:

1) Steady state predicted that objects like quasars and radio galaxies are found everywhere. But observations and calculations suggest that this is not the case. In fact these objects are found only at large distances.

2) Another flaw in the theory is related to cosmic microwave background radiation. Steady state theory states that these radiations are from ancient stars. However, cosmologists found this explanation unconvincing, as the cosmic microwave background is very smooth, making it difficult to explain how it arose from point sources.

Birth of Universe-The Big-Bang

Let us start with our first (and most probable) hypothesis-Big Bang. Actually Georges Lemaitre proposed this theory. This theory is mainly based on three laws, namely: -
1) General relativity
2) Homogeneity
3) Isotropy

According to Big Bang theory, the universe is expanding or we can also say that the galaxies are moving away from each other. Law of Doppler shift proves this. So, if the universe is continuously expanding it suggest that the evident expansion in forward time required that the universe contracted backwards in time, and would continue to do so until it could contract no further, bringing all the mass of the universe into a single point, a "primeval atom", at a point in time before which time and space did not exist. As such, at this point, the fabric of time and space had not yet come into existence. If we try to extrapolate this view we will reach a point when it is not possible to contract the universe any more and we will get a primeval atom with super high density and energy.

We will try to understand this concept using the example of football. We will try to correlate both the cases. Consider a football, think it as the primeval atom (starting point of whole universe). Now suppose we are pumping air in this football and we go on pumping till the football explodes. This point of explosion is known as Big Bang. Now as the football explodes the fragmented parts start flying away from each other. These fragmented parts correspond to the galaxies and they go on moving away from each other.

This is the basis of Big- Bang theory. I will try to explain this theory in more detailed manner (theoretically and mathematically) in my further posts.

Birth of Universe

Universe consists of many galaxies, millions- billions of stars and planets. Our own planet earth is like a grain of sand in the vast ocean (universe) floor. Many of us often think that how our planet was born or how our solar system was born. This is indeed a very interesting and fascinating question. Just think how much energy is required to produce this huge amount of masses (planets and sun) or vice versa how much mass is required to produce such enormous amount of energy (imagine the amount of energy produced by sun everyday). If you are not such a science geek then let me remind you that there is a very popular theory proposed by Albert Einstein known as mass energy relationship (E=mc^2).

If this is not enough then let us think of something more bigger(or the biggest!)-How the whole universe came to existence??
Still, we do not have a definitive answer for this. But indeed we have few hypothesis. Among these the most famous (or most probable) are:
1) Big Bang Theory
2) Steady State Theory

But before indulging into these topics more deeply let us try to identify the constituents of our universe (only brief description!). Our universe mainly consist of:

a) Stars- these are the shining members of our universe. Actually, the stars emit their own light. That means they produce their own energy(Basically heat and light energy). And how they produce it?? The answer is Nuclear Fusion.
E.g.- our own Sun.

b) Planets- The best example is our own planet earth. Planets are heavenly bodies that revolve around stars (due to gravity).

c) Natural Satellites- Like our moon. These natural satellites revolve around planets but they do not have their own energy.( Moon appears to glow only because it reflects sunlight).

Apart from these their are other heavenly bodies also like asteroids, comets, meteors, etc. We will discuss about them later, because as of now we are talking only about birth of universe.

So, let us go back to our hypothesis, namely Big Bang and Steady state.
Among these two, Big- Bang is more popular and is accepted by most physicists and cosmologists. It is supported by most comprehensive and accurate scientific observations and evidence.
On the other hand, Steady State theory is a model developed in 1948 by Fred Hoyle, Thomas Gold, Hermann Bondi and others as an alternative to the Big Bang theory. But this theory has very less number of supporters as compared to Big-Bang theory.

As the name suggests, Big-Bang is about one big explosion whereas steady state refers to one static universe(it has no beginning and no end). We will discuss these two topics in more detail in my subsequent posts.

Robots and Humanoids

There is no doubt about it; human evolution and performance are limited. Our intelligence and physical abilities are restricted and we cannot survive without vital nutrients, air and other elements, necessary for our frail human nature. Therefore it is vitally important we improve and protect our abilities, and what better way to do so, then with mechanically engineered devices. The development of robots has helped us in our endeavors, be it for national defense purposes, on an industrial level where they are part of many manufacturing processes, or on a personal level at home where all kinds of gadgets help us in mastering our chores. But where is the world of robotics leading us? Will the world soon be overrun by androids, cyborgs and other automatons?

People already rely on artificial intelligence in many aspects of their daily routine and even if most of them do not have humanlike features, they may surround us as cleaning tools, who know when to return to their docking station after their cleaning cycle is done, or when their battery runs low, or they may act as toys mimicking and behaving like favorite domesticated pets, to name just a few. If science fiction gets it right, soon a multi-tasking robotic butler, complete with arms, legs and speech will become a common household feature. Many breakthroughs in the development of artificial interaction, locomotion, navigation, manipulation and intelligence have already been made, and various scientists are working equally hard on finalizing muscle-like, spring-based motors that will upgrade the limps of their mechanical life forms and increase their humanoid efficiency and reaction time. Progress in skin development has enabled more lifelike robotic hands to sense objects and their movement. This means that if a bottle would be slipping through the robot hand, the speed bump sensors embedded in the skin would record the pressure change, react to it, and stop the bottle from falling.Robotic Science has come a long way and many laboratories have the structures to prove it.

Domo is a robot like no other. Born and built at the Massachusetts Institute for Technology, Domo is the first robot able to give a hug. With less rigid elastic actuators in his fingers, wrists, arms and neck, and joints that are more flexible than those used in other humanoids, this robot feels not only the object, but also its pressure and touch flexibility. This allows Domo to fine-tune its grip, make handshakes less ferocious and hugs more temperate.

Huygens-Mathematical Genius and Astronomer

Christiaan Huygens was born in Holland in 1629 and he was a mathematical genius who invented several important mechanical devices including the pendulum clock. He had a deep understanding of astronomy, optics, mathematics, and mechanical devices. And he built some of the largest telescopes of the 17th century. Being a contemporary of Galileo he heard about Galileo’s telescope and he set out to improve on the design. One of the liabilities of refracting telescopes like the one that Galileo built was that because of optical problems they caused distortion in how things looked. The colors of objects were separated and things were not sharp. This was a phenomenon called chromatic aberration. Huygens discovered, after much experimentation, that this problem could be lessened by building lenses with much longer focal lengths. This type of lens with a longer focal length was easier to make accurately. And using this discovery he built telescopes that were as long as 120 feet. He called his style of telescope “tubeless” because it was an open air frame without a tube; and while he did build a monster that was 120 feet long it was cumbersome and difficult to use. Most of his observations and discoveries were made with smaller telescopes around forty feet in length.

He wasn’t just a lens and telescope maker though. He was also an avid astronomer and he used his telescopes to make some discoveries under the night sky. One of his most important discoveries was of the rings of Saturn. He wasn’t the first one to actually see them. Galileo did that. But because of chromatic aberration Galileo’s telescope wasn’t good enough to resolve the rings into what they truly were. All Galileo saw was what he described as a tri-form planet which was composed of a large center section that had a section attached to each side. He described these side sections as being much like the handles of a vase. Huygens, with his better telescopes, could resolve the image of Saturn better and see what was really there and in 1656 he published his findings. He described Saturn as being composed of a central globe much like Jupiter but girdled by a thin flat ring that did not touch it.

Digital and Film Photography

Photography is a way of life for some and at least a part of life for everyone else. In this day and age, technological advances await us at every turn, and the field of photography is no exception. Cameras have gone digital, and the potential is astounding. The following will take a look at some of the differences in the old and new ways, and weigh them out as either pros or cons of digital photography.Scientifically speaking, the differences between the two are enormous. With film photography, light traveling through the camera’s lens is actually burning the images onto the film. With digital photography, the light of the images is being encoded as binary data and stored in memory as with a computer. These differences, while huge, can be unimportant to some though. No one is actually interested in the technical aspect of how the cameras work. The photographer is more interested in what it means to him in regard to the pictures he can take and what he can do with them. One of the primary advantages of digital photography is versatility. Digital cameras can record not only the still images of film cameras, but also motion pictures and audio in some cases. While a film camera can be a specialized piece of equipment for taking still pictures, digital cameras can offer you an entire range of different equipment, all in the palm of your hand.

Digital cameras are also commonly found on other pieces of equipment. As technology advances, cellular telephones and MP3 music players now often have built-in cameras, which are always digital. This may offer some extra convenience to digital camera users, considering that they can decrease the overall number of devices that they must carry with them and use.Printing your pictures is also very different from digital to film photography. In both cases, though, you have many options. Professional film photographers may develop their prints on their own, in their very own dark room. Amateur or casual film photographers may simply drop their film off at a one-hour photo place. With digital, your pictures are recorded as electronic data, so you can use your computer to print them. Or, if you prefer, you can still drop them off at a photo shop and have it done for you. So as far as printing goes, it seems it is up to you how deeply you want to dive in. Both film and digital offer you a range of options, from the hands-on to letting others do it for you.So in the end, choosing between digital and film may mean considering the application. Hobbyists may stick to film, while technology buffs and burgeoning photographers will choose the brave new world of digital. Either way, it looks like both styles of photography are going to be around for awhile to come.

Thought Control-A Wonder Idea

Thought control? How would you like to be able to turn on your television just by thinking? Or have the door to your house open by mind power when your hands were full? This isn't something that will remain science fiction for long. The technology necessary to make this happen is here now.First of all, you have basic thought control now, meaning you can control and direct your thoughts. You can imagine a friend talking in your mind, for example. Then you can choose to hear music in your imagination. If you are hooked up to an electroencephalograph when you do these things, it will also be clear that these two thoughts are handled in different parts of your brain. This electroencephalogram, or EEG, is important, because what we can measure, we can use to do things. Think about this for a moment. Modern electronics has made it possible to easily operate things as a response to measurement. A thermostat measures the temperature, for example, and turns the heater on or off according to that measurement. Security lights turn themselves on when light levels get low.

We can already measure and track what is going on in the brain. Is it inconceivable then, to have that measurement automatically trigger some action? For example, even before the electrical patterns of the brain were made "visible," we measured pulse rate with many different machines. Now, what if instead of sending a signal to a monitor telling a red light to go on when the heart raced, the signal told the TV to turn on? Think of anything that gets your heart racing and the TV would turn on, right?Call it mind power, thought control or whatever. You can see that such a device has been possible for at least a generation now. With new technology, and more detailed measurements of the actual electric patterns of the brain, how much more is possible? Someday, an electroencephalograph type of device will be able to more directly read your mind. The technology will eventually get to the point where it can print out the actual words you are thinking. We are a long way from that, but we are right at the brink of building machines that give us thought control of the things around us.

Pyrolysis-Green technology

Pyrolysis is an emerging technology and its green credentials when the feed is biomass are top notch. Everyone who has lit a wood or coal fire and watched it burn has seen pyrolysis. Pyrolysis is usually the first chemical reaction that occurs in the burning of many solid organic fuels, like wood, cloth, and paper, and also of some kinds of plastic. In a wood fire, the visible flames are not due to combustion of the wood itself, but rather of the gases released by its pyrolysis; whereas the flame-less burning of embers is the combustion of the solid residue (charcoal) left behind by it. Although the basic concepts of the process have been validated, the performance data for an emerging technology have not been evaluated according to methods approved by EPA and adhering to EPA quality assurance/quality control standards.Waste is converted to a fuel by heating the waste which burns just as coal or wood does under the right controlled conditions. Whereas incineration fully converts the input waste into energy and ash, these processes limit the conversion so that combustion does not take place directly.

Waste Plastic under pressure and catalytic cracking produces fuel and can be used as a fuel source. Under certain temperature conditions the plastic macromolecular chains are broken down into small molecular chains (simple hydrocarbon compounds) and those small molecular compounds contain C4 to C20, this compound is a component of petrol, coal oil, and diesel.Anhydrous pyrolysis can also be used to produce liquid fuel similar to diesel from solid biomass.Fast pyrolysis occurs in a time of a few seconds or less. Therefore, not only chemical reaction kinetics but also heat and mass transfer processes, as well as phase transition phenomena, play important roles. Fast pyrolysis is a process in which organic materials are rapidly heated to 450 - 600 degrees C in absence of air. Under these conditions, organic vapors, permanent gases and charcoal are produced.

Optical Microscopes

Optical microscopes use visible light and a system of lenses to magnify small samples that are usually un-seen to the bare eye. The optical microscope is the first, oldest and simples type of microscope (as opposed to the much more advanced electronic microscope). The first optical microscopes were created in the 18th century. Due to it's compact sizes, simplicity and relatively low price, the optical microscope is very popular, and can be found in use in many areas of biology. Optical microscopes mostly magnify objects for up to 1500 times. The first optical microscopes were structured in a way that is called "the simple microscope". This structure utilizes only one pair of lenses to create a magnified image of the sample. Today, the simple structure is in use only in the magnifying glass, hand lens and the loupe.

The more advances optical microscopes, and the ones that are popular today, are what's called "compound optical microscopes". These microscopes use a system of many lenses, in order to "compound" and multiply the magnification, and therefore maximize it. The two main lens systems in an optical microscope are the objective lens (near the examined object), and the eyepiece lens (up near the eye of the scientist). Modern optical microscopes use multiple lenses both in the objective part as well as the eyepiece part. The old optical microscopes also used a mirror to provide illumination below the object. The modern optical microscopes use a strong lamp to provide constant and strong illumination.

The main uses of compound optical microscopes include:

The examining small pieces of material, or even a smear or a squash preparation. This is due to the fact that the optical microscope uses light to pass beneath the object and enter the lenses. That's why the item is better be half-transparent. In other uses the optical microscope may be used to examine metal samples, in order to study the metal's structure.
At low power, microscopes can be used to examine small living animals and plants. At high power, they can be used to examine bacteria. It is important to note that the vast advancement in medicinal fields and biology in general, is owed to a large extent, to the invention of the optical microscopes. For example, the way the blood flows in our body was not fully understood until the microscope made in possible to examine small blood vessels behavior.

Information Technology Manufacturing Solutions

Rapidly changing market dynamics is pushing all businesses belonging to different industry verticals, especially manufacturing, to come up with innovative ways to streamline the ‘3 D’s of product lifecycle i.e., design, development and deployment, to deliver marketable and reliable products.

Emerging and ever changing consumer tastes, evolving regulations, and ageing demographics call for a partner who can enable technology solutions that generate tangible and measurable value for businesses in order to achieve a strategic edge on their competition. In producing improved agricultural crops by genetic engineering, researchers aim for strains with the properties such as herbicide resistance, pest resistance, disease resistance, stress resistance and altered composition. All these properties will help farmers and large production companies to grow crops which will benefits in producing new products, increasing quality and quantity of existing products and improving ingredients of crops so that their production will ensure healthy and tasty food. For example, transgenic plants grew better under drought conditions and responded better when brought out of water stress. Next, such crops will allow producing potato starch with high amylopectin content for making paper, textiles and adhesives and rapeseed oil with greater erucic acid levels for plastic and industrial lubricants production.

Biotechnology is proving to be a vital complement to conventional agricultural research, improving breeding and conservation programmes and giving insights into understanding and controlling plant diseases. Aside from making conventional research more precise, GE also gives scientists the dramatic ability to transfer genetic material between organisms that normally cannot be combined through natural methods. Along with this newfound ability, however, comes new issues and concerns that need to be addressed before any large-scale adoption can take place. These include unintended transfer of transgenic genes, development of resistance by weeds, pests and diseases, and potential allergies from exotic proteins. Transparent and impartial evaluation of developed strains to answer these questions rather than rely on media hype will safeguard human health, protect the environment, and facilitate public acceptance of genetically engineered crops.

Wireless Networks- Modulation techniques

Many of the wireless technologies in the WPAN, WLAN, and WWAN categories transmit information using radio waves. For this to take place, the data is superimposed onto the radio wave, which is also known as the carrier wave, since it carries the data. This process is called modulation. There are many modulation techniques available, all with certain advantages and disadvantages in terms of efficiency and power requirements. The modulation techniques are as follows:

1. Narrowband technology - Narrowband radio systems transmit and receive data on a specific radio frequency. The frequency band is kept as narrow as possible to allow the information to be passed. Interference is avoided by coordinating different users on different frequencies. The radio receiver filters out all signals except those on the designated frequency. For a company to use narrowband technology, it requires a license issued by the government. Examples of such companies include many of the wide area network providers.

2. Spread spectrum - By design, spread spectrum trades off bandwidth efficiency for reliability, integrity, and security. It consumes more bandwidth than narrow-band technology, but produces a signal that is louder and easier to detect by receivers that know the parameters of the signal being broadcast. To everyone else, the spread-spectrum signal looks like background noise. Two variations of spread-spectrum radio exist: frequency-hopping and direct-sequence.

a). Frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) - FHSS uses a narrowband carrier that rapidly cycles through frequencies. Both the sender and receiver know the frequency pattern being used. The idea is that even if one frequency is blocked, another should be available. If this is not the case, then the data is re-sent. When properly synchronized, the result is a single logical channel over which the information is transmitted. To everyone else, it appears as short bursts of noise. The maximum data rate using FHSS is typically around 1 Mbps.

b). Direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) - DSSS spreads the signal across a broad band of radio frequencies simultaneously. Each bit transmitted has a redundant bit pattern called a chip. The longer the chip, the more likely the original data can be recovered. Longer bits also require more bandwidth. To receivers not expecting the signal, DSSS appears as low-power broadband noise and is rejected. DSSS requires more power than FHSS, but data rates can be increased to a maximum of 2 Mbps.

3. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) - OFDM transmits data in a parallel method, as opposed to the hopping technique used by FHSS and the spreading technique used by DSSS. This protects it from interference since the signal is being sent over parallel frequencies. OFDM has ultrahigh spectrum efficiency, meaning that more data can travel over a smaller amount of bandwidth.

Fundamentals of Wireless Networks

Wireless networks can be divided into two broad segments: short-range and long-range. Short-range wireless pertains to networks that are confined to a limited area. This applies to local area networks (LANs), such as corporate buildings, school campuses, manufacturing plants or homes, as well as to personal area networks (PANs) where portable computers within close proximity to one another need to communicate.

These networks typically operate over unlicensed spectrum reserved for industrial, scientific, medical (ISM) usage. The available frequencies differ from country to country. The most common frequency band is at 2.4 GHz, which is available across most of the globe. Other bands at 5 GHz and 40 GHz are also often used. The availability of these frequencies allows users to operate wireless networks without obtaining a license, and without charge.

Long-range networks continue where LANs end. Connectivity is typically provided by companies that sell the wireless connectivity as a service. These networks span large areas such as a metropolitan area, a state or province, or an entire country. The goal of long-range networks is to provide wireless coverage globally. The most common longrange network is wireless wide area network (WWAN). When true global coverage is required, satellite networks are also available.

Alternative Energy- Continued

Geothermal energy is extremely abundant, since it lies directly beneath our feet, just a few miles below the earth's surface. This energy is produced by the heating of water through the actions of earth's fantastically hot molten core. The water turns to steam, which can be harnessed and used to drive turbine engines which in turn generate electricity. Great amounts of research and development should be put into geothermal energy tapping.

Waste gas energies, which are essentially methane, reverse the usual energy-pollution relationship by creating energy from waste that lies in the dumps and from some air pollutants. This gas is used in fuel cells and can be used in standard gasoline generators. Ethanol is a gasoline substitute and is created from such things as wheat, sugarcane, grapes, strawberries, corn, and even wood chips and wood cellulose. There is controversy over this fuel with regards to its ever becoming truly economical or practical except in very localized areas, but technologies for its extraction and admixturing are continuously being refined.

Biodiesel energy is created out of the oils contained in plants. So far, the commercial stores of biodiesel have been created using soybean, rapeseed, and sunflower oils. Biodiesel is typically produced by entrepreneurial minded individuals or those who want to experiment with alternative energy, but commercial interest from companies is on the rise. It burns much cleaner than oil-based diesel.

Atomic energy is created in atomic energy plants using the process of nuclear fission. This energy is extremely efficient and can generate huge amounts of power. There is concern from some people about what to do with the relatively small amount of waste product atomic energy gives off, since it is radioactive and takes hundreds of years to decay into harmlessness.

Alternative Energy Sources

There is a lot of energy that we can harness if we only seek to research and develop the technologies needed to do so. We can get away from the fossil fuels and the old electrical grids by turning to alternatives to these energy sources.

One of these alternative energy resources is wind power. Wind turbines continue to be developed that are progressively more energy efficient and less costly. "Wind farms" have been springing up in many nations, and they have even become more strategically placed over time so that they are not jeopardizing birds as former wind turbines did.

Another alternative energy resource is the one that is most well known: solar energy. This involves the manufacturing of solar cells which gather and focus the energy given off directly by the sun, and translate it into electricity or, in some cases, hot water. As with wind energy, solar energy creates absolutely zero pollution. Ocean wave energy is seen by governments and investors as having enormous energy generating potential. A generator in France has been in operation for many years now and is considered to be a great success, and the Irish and Scots are running experimental facilities.

Hydroelectric power has been with us for a while and where it is set up, it is a powerful generator of electricity and cleaner than a grid. However, there are certain limitations to the availability of the right places to set up a large dam. Many run-of-the-river, or small and localized, hydroelectric generators have been set up in recent times due to this limitation.

LASIK-The Carving Of The Cornea

LASIK or “Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis” is the only commonly performed keratomileusis procedure. Keratomileusis involves an altering of the shape of the corneal tissue with the aid of an excimer laser, which is a powerful ultraviolet laser. This laser eye surgery is performed by ophthalmologists in order to correct different types of vision impairment. LASIK is the preferred treatment for patients with refractive error, since the procedure entails rapid recovery and minimal pain overall.LASIK surgery leverages technology to its fullest.

For instance, a computer system tracks the patient’s eye position 4,000 times per second, while the lasers make the desired incisions. It might sound like a dangerous procedure, but it’s time to debunk this myth. LASIK surgery is a completely safe procedure performed with high precision. That is, the laser carves the corneal tissue in a finely controlled manner. LASIK surgery is not that cumbersome when compared with other types of eye surgery, and has a relatively low frequency of complications. Though LASIK surgery is performed with the patient awake and functional, the eye surgeon typically administers a mild sedative and anesthetic eye drops. No matter what the type of vision impairment, altering the shape of the cornea is a viable solution.

In general, the procedure has very few side effects and offers instant results. However, a few complications may arise depending on the extent of the patient’s refractive error and other irregularities in the corneal tissue.LASIK eye surgery, with excellent technology at its disposal, is improving at a rapid rate. However, there is no conclusive evidence as to the chances of long-term complications owing to the surgery.

Although relatively uncommon, a few complications may arise, namely corneal infection, slipped flap, haziness, halo or glare. An important point to note is that this laser-assisted procedure is irreversible. LASIK has gained popularity due its efficacy and improved precision. The procedure also boasts of the smallest complication statistics relative to other eye surgeries. With only a 5% complication rate, LASIK sounds like a safe enough procedure to rectify your vision impairment.

Satellite Radio

Satellite radio has quite literally been a god send to people who live or travel regularly in remote locations, or even for people who are required to travel long distances. Static-free reception can now be experienced and enjoyed by listeners who have a satellite radio even if they are in the remotest of locations.

In the past if you were travelling for long periods, every hour or so you would have to start tweaking with the radio dial, as the radio station you were just listening to began to turn to static after it seemed to fade in and out for a while. You would then frantically try to locate a new radio station to listen to and just as you did, it too would turn static. This would go on until eventually there were no decent stations left on the dial and then finally you would succumb to putting on a cassette or a CD or even turning off the entire stereo all together. But with the advent of satellite radio, static, tuning, fiddling and complete boredom will soon be a thing of the past.

The standard, more conventional radio signals are only able to travel around 30-40 miles from their original transmitters so if you travel beyond this distance then the signal will eventually get weaker and weaker until you are no longer able to hear the transmission at all. However in a far greater development of technology, satellite radio waves travel from space (around 22,000 miles) meaning that you will be able to travel across the entire country without even having to change national radio stations because the frequency will be consistent and strong.

ComboFix

This is a general case when you get simply irritated when the spyware software intrudes into your computer and spoils s a lot of functions. The ComboFix is known to be a genuine spyware remover. Initially this software was created to keep away the infections created by Look2Me, QooLogic and SurfSideKick, apart from those by the different type or combination of spyware functions. This application has got an inbuilt engine. This eliminates the “Vundo infections”. This is a trustable application and can prove to very useful by keeping your computer safe from the spyware. There are other usages as well. This ComboFix can unhook the files with .dll extension that can be found in the 32 folders of Windows operating system. The spyware often takes shelter within these folders and with the help of ComboFix you can remove them manually. So in a nutshell ComboFix can be described as the most efficient spyware eliminating tool that works faster than the general ones.

Merits and demerits of ComboFix:

ComboFix contains some predetermined commands that help the users to delete around 8 infected files at the same time. The integrated engine of this application is powerful enough to clean up all the files including the hidden files or the locked ones unlike the other tools that let you delete the infected files only. Though this is considered to be an effective application there are certain limitations as well. First of all this function was introduced to delete a particular type of function which is the reason for its incapability to eliminate the other viruses which are equally harmful for a computer. Secondly if you wish to have continuous functionality then you will require updating them on a regular basis. If your computer contains a root kit then the usage of ComboFix is not advisable for you. The reason is that ComboFix might end up deleting some of the important files from your system with an instruction from the root kit. If you have decided to use ComboFix then there are certain precautions that you need to take. If you have a previous history of virus infection or currently facing this sort of a problem then make sure that this is solely because of spyware. In case this is not something related to spyware you will have to stop ComboFix from working as this can lead to the deletion of some important files which are very important for your system to run smoothly.

Role of Fluorochemicals in Agriculture

Since the late 1990's, governments around the world have been bombarded with pressure from environmental groups to ban the use of fluorine-derived chemicals in drinking water, organic foods and other consumables. As more and more studies about these chemicals are sponsored and brought to light, many environmental and public health groups are taking steps in an attempt to force governments to completely abolish the use of this "sometimes" poisonous element.

Fluorochemicals have many different uses and roles in agriculture. The most common use is to protect crops in the field as an ingredient in pesticides and herbicides. It has nearly taken the place of bromomethane, a pesticide that came under fire for its toxicity to the environment. Fluorine provides a viable and valuable alternative to bromomethane in pest-control products, and its introduction has led to the development of new and more active ingredients for pesticide purposes. Fluoro compounds also may be added to soil to sterilize it before specific crops are sowed into it. As a soil sterilizing agent, fluorine can neutralize any growth by crops other than those intended to be grown there. By reducing the growth of anything other than the target product, fluorine can help ensure that there are enough nutrients in the soil for that one crop.

In addition, fluoridation helps decontaminate water that might otherwise be useless for irrigating crops. The water fluoridation process is integral to watering and sustaining the crops, and of course, in providing water for cattle and other animals. New processes in processing are producing fluorochemicals that are less toxic to the environment and deliver more advantages in agriculture. As the industry continues to grow, they will continue to find ways to make these chemicals more productive and safer to use.

Cold Fusion Part-2

THE PROCESS BEHIND COLD FUSION

There is no fully developed model for cold fusion yet. The hypothesis behind the phenomenon is however very simple: All particles behave according to quantum mechanical laws. These laws say that the coordinates and energy state of a particle at one point in time determine the probability of finding a particle at a place with some given coordinates at another point of time, but the exact place cannot be predicted. Actually, a particle can be found anywhere at that other time point, but all places do not have the same probability. Some places are very probable, and others are very improbable. Because of this, even a particle that is not in any net motion nevertheless will shift place randomly to some extend, usually very little, but sometimes more.
By bringing particles and nuclei very near each other by using some force, this will happen: The quantum mechanical behavior will as always make the particles shift their position more or less all the time, and sometimes they get near enough to let the strong nuclear forces to take action and make them fuse.

According to standard understanding of the standard theory, this cannot happen in such a degree to be detected. Still it does. Either the standard theory is not complete, or one has not learned to use the theory in a right fashion. The mathematical apparatus of the theory is so complicated, that it is impossible to predict what can happen and what cannot happen with a short glance at the equations. Cold fusion differs in many aspects from warm fusion. It is difficult to produce warm fusion of other things than one deuterium and one tritium kernel. By cold fusion, two deuterium kernels easily fuse to helium, and even fusion involving hydrogen kernels (free protons) have been reported. Output of neutrons (n), tritium (T), protons (p) and gamma radiation has been reported by cold fusion, but not in the amount predicted by standard understanding. These are the reactions that standard understanding predicts when two deuterium kernels fuse: D + D --> 3He + n, D + D --> T + p, D + D --> 4He + gamma photon.

Cold Fusion Part-1

In 1989 the chemistry professors Stanley Pons and Martin Fleishman reported that they had achieved cold fusion in a palladium anode emerged in a solution of sodium deuteroxide in heavy water D2O. Due to a bad exactness of their report, only few other scientists managed to replicate their findings in the first place. The findings were then dismissed as due to misunderstandings and bad scientific practice, and the matter of cold fusion has since been regarded as a taboo area. However, some scientists did manage to replicate the findings, and quietly an enormous amount of positive research findings based on experiments of a lot better quality have been published. The phenomenon is again becoming accepted as a legitimate field of research by steadily more scientists. However, what is really going on is not well understood. Heat production, detected radiation and detected fusion products suggest that some kind of nuclear reaction or fusion takes place, but the reactions do not show the amount of radiation and the ratios of products that known hot fusion reactions do. Therefore other names of the phenomenon are often used, like Low Energy Nuclear Reactions or (LENR) or Chemically Assisted Nuclear Reactions (CANR).

WHAT IS FUSION

By fusion two or more atomic nuclei, protons or neutrons fuse together to form a new atomic nucleus. The new nucleus is held together by the strong forces between the heavy particles, protons and neutrons. These forces are so strong that they win over the repulsing electromagnetic forces between protons. However, the strong forces only work at a short distance. Therefore the nucleons (neutrons and protons) must be brought very close together. This is difficult because of the repulsing electromagnetic forces between the protons. In traditional fusion this is achieved by very high pressure and temperature in the fusing material.

The mass of a helium nucleus (consisting of two protons and two neutrons) and other light nuclei are less than the mass of the same number of free protons, neutrons or deuterium nuclei. A deuterium nucleus consists of one proton and one neutron. Heavy water contains deuterium instead of ordinary hydrogen and is therefore designed D2O. When fusion takes place, this mass difference cannot be lost. It is converted to kinetic energy and gamma radiation. Therefore fusion of protons, neutrons or kernels of the very lightest elements into heavier elements is a very potent energy source. One has not been able to make a controlled fusion by high temperature and pressure that yields more energy than the input energy yet. The only practical way one has managed to exploit the energy from warm fusion is the hydrogen bomb.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth does not describe a dental condition in which a patient has blue teeth. The term “Bluetooth” signifies a special new technology, a technology of the 21st Century. The devices with Bluetooth technology allow the user of such devices to conduct 2-way transmissions over short distances. Usually the distance between the communicating Bluetooth devices runs no more than 150 feet. . The individual who has access to two or more devices with Bluetooth technology has the ability to carryout such short-range communications.

One big advantage to having access to some of the devices with the Bluetooth technology is the opportunity one gains to conduct a “conversation” between mobile and stationary technological items. The Bluetooth car kit underlines the plus side of having access to the Bluetooth technology. The Bluetooth car kit sets the stage for a “conversation” between a mobile and a stationary electrical gadget. For example, the Bluetooth car kit permits a cell phone in the garage to communicate with a home computer. Thanks to Bluetooth, a car driver with a cell phone could sit inside a car and send a message to a home computer. By the same token, Bluetooth technology could allow a car to send a message to a personal computer. Such a message could inform a car owner that the motor vehicle sitting in the garage needed an oil change, rotation of the tires or some other routine procedure.

Ethernet

Ethernet is the single most widely used form of the local area network currently in existence. The original design for Ethernet was created by Xerox, and was based on an earlier design that was known as Alohanet. After the initial creation and success of Ethernet, the product went through further enhancement under the auspices of Xerox, Intel, and DEC. Ethernet usually makes use of twisted pair wires or coaxial cable in the basic design of a wired local area network. However, the same general principle applies to wireless Ethernet as well. Various devices are connected to the cable or wires and achieve connectivity to Ethernet through Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection. In general, Ethernet systems are referred to as 10BASE-T and are capable of producing speeds of up to 10 Mbps.

Along with the standard 10BASE-T, there is also today what is known as Fast Ethernet. Properly designated as 100BASE-T, this form of Ethernet is capable of producing transmission speeds that are up to one hundred megabits per second. Generally, Fast Ethernet is used as a backbone for the LAN system, with the 10BASE-T cards used for the workstations that are supported by the LAN. Gigabit Ethernet takes the process one step further. This form of Ethernet will provide up to one thousand megabits per second and is an excellent option for large networks that require a great deal of support to manage local and remote work stations.10-Gigabit Ethernet provides the greatest power currently available. This type of Ethernet offers up to ten billion bits per second, making it the fastest version currently available.

High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)

HDMI, or high definition multimedia interface, is a type of audio and video interface that is used for the transmission of uncompressed digital streams. Essentially, HDMI can be considered an alternative method to transmitting data streams, rather than making use of conventional methods such as coaxial cabling, VGA, or component video equipment. Quite a number of devices and sources on the market today will work with the use of HDMI. The Blu-Ray disc player, a relatively new innovation, was created with the use of HDMI specifically in mind. Most personal computers that are sold today are ready for use with HDMI, as are the majority of video game consoles in the stores currently. A set-top box also is usually compatible with HDMI, as are such entertainment options as digital television. Essentially, any type of computer interface today will function with the use of HDMI.

HDMI will work with a single cable connection to such devices as televisions or personal computers. In general, HDMI will function fine with any television or PC that is standard, enhanced, or high definition in the video component. However, it is important to note that HDMI does work independently of many of the DTV standards, although use of HDMI will not impact the quality of the digital transmission. Generally, these standards apply to some configurations of MPEG movie clips and files. Since these are compressed, HDMI will simply decompress the data and make it possible to view the clip.

No. There is a range of specifications that are employed by HDMI, and a given device will be manufactured to comply with one of those specifications. The most simplistic specification is identified as 1.0. With each succeeding version, the capabilities of the previous version remain intact, but are joined by other capabilities that will allow the version to function with a given device. Because technology is always advancing, HDMI continues to advance as well. However, older versions remain active, as they are often used with devices that require less functionality, and they also continue to be helpful in situations where older systems are still running and are in operation. HDMI was created and has been enhanced by the efforts of several prominent names in the computer and electronics industry. Consumers will recognize the names of Philips, Sony, Toshiba, and Silicon Image as just part of the roster of corporations involved in the ongoing enhancement of HDMI.

Broadband Television

What do you like watching on television? Whether you prefer talent shows, reality TV, movies or sports, you can find a channel for everything nowadays. Although the age-old concept of watching the TV as a family may have changed over the years, many of us remain glued to our sets as we catch up on soap operas and award-winning documentaries. And now more of us are making use of our broadband connections in order to watch television. With the rise of video-sharing websites such as YouTube and the introduction of applications that will allow you to watch programs from a certain channel, we now have a greater degree of choice in both what we watch and when we watch it.

Internet television has seen huge advances and growing popularity since it was launched, and now more television stations around the world are making use of the trend, combined with the growing popularity of cheap broadband in order to capture viewers. And with more of us making use of the internet in our everyday lives, we have been given the chance to escape the sofa and watch programmes we’ve missed without the use of expensive set-top boxes. With a wide range of subjects available for viewing, from sporting events to political debates, it has never been easier to access up-to-date information and programmes at times that suit us, all from the comfort of our laptops.

And as technology becomes more advanced, both online and offline, internet television continues to develop, with some services offering features such as user interaction whilst viewing programs – without covering up the screen with annoying pop-ups and disrupting the viewing experience. So now, as well as viewing high-quality videos on a full screen, viewers can now not only search for biographies on actors, information on places seen on screen, but also jump to certain parts of scenes by using keywords. In order to make the most of such services, it is advisable to make sure your connection is up-to-speed through use of a broadband speed test. As technology develops, more of us are making use of affordable computers and laptops, cheaper broadband and a wide range of online services. And as more of us turn to watching television online, could this perhaps be a turning point for ‘couch potatoes’?

Mobile Satellite Internet

When we travel, whether for work or pleasure, no matter how much we think we want to unplug and disconnect - we can't. Whether it’s the GPS navigation system in our rental cars, the burning desire to see the score of a sports game, itch to tune into to the news, check the latest snapshot of the stock market or simply check email, we are a connected force in an almost connected world. Mobile satellite internet services are ideal in locations where terrestrial Internet access is not available either because of limited infrastructure or as a result of a natural or man made disaster. It used to be that mobile satellite internet access was used primarily by vessels at sea and mobile land vehicles used for emergency responders and disaster relief, but as with most technology, what begins as a necessity for some becomes a desired luxury for all. Many commercial satellite providers are banking on this and developing even greater solutions to keeping people connected regardless of locale or environment.

It was only a few short years ago when motorists thought GPS navigation systems were too expensive and unnecessary expenses…now most new cars offer these as standard features. Families and business travelers can receive local news, live traffic updates, weather, sports, and other programs. The next move will be to standardizing mobile satellite internet into vehicles as well. Many SUV's already can be easily equipped with a satellite antenna which brings the internet on the road without the need for local wi-fi hot spots or receivers. More importantly than benefiting from the luxury of having everything at our fingertips, mobile satellite internet is imperative for businesses and organizations with remote and field offices. With a quickly growing mobile workforce, business satellite internet reduces the downtime or lag time caused by limited or delayed on-the-road communications. As cell phones and pdas become more equipped with more advanced mobile technologies, we are well on the way for mobile satellite internet becoming an everyday standard.

Noise Pollution reduction with the help of Acoustic Foam

Noise pollution (or environmental noise in technical areas and venues) is termed as displeasing or annoying human or mechanically caused sound that is or can be described as alien to the environment. I guess to most of us the major source of this pollution would come from transportation systems, as anyone who has tried to hire a car from the main AVIS car rental depot at Heathrow Airport would testify to. Based on the perimeter road at Heathrow sometimes the noise of landing 747’s can make it a little difficult explaining to the attendant what problems you may have had (or not) with the car you are returning. The bottom line is that we live in a noisy world and by that I mean not just the sound of cars and traffic etc but the way we live our lives and perhaps more importantly where we are now living and the density of the accommodation we provide ourselves.

Nowadays basically we have people living on top of each other, underneath each other and in fact all over the place and more importantly interfacing with modern day technologies in ways that hitherto would have thought to have been impossible. As such the use of the acoustic foam and the noise dampening systems are essential. If we take for example the situation in many cities nowadays when we have whole plethoras of modern communication links such as underground railway systems, over ground railway systems, modern two-way flyovers and in fact transports communications and residential accommodation right next to each other. Without adequate noise reduction systems in place and incorporated within the structure of the residential and work accommodation than pretty quickly life within these new cities would become pretty intolerable.

As we have said before, enter stage left acoustic foam. Without these new technologies providing the noise insulation, the quality of life in most built up areas would be appalling. At this point it becomes pretty obvious to all concerned quite what a debt we owe to noise reduction systems and soundproofing in general that quite often mere words on no longer enough.

Flat Screen Monitors

You probably are already aware that there are two types of computer monitors available today: the big and clunky cathode-ray (CRT) tube monitors and the newer flat screen monitors. These flat panel monitors have a number of advantages over the older type of computer monitors. They are far sleeker, more space-saving and weigh much less. Flat screen monitors are also designed to be more energy-efficient and reduces eye strain. Flat screen monitors use the technology called Liquid Crystal Display or LCD. There are also flat screen CRT monitors available. Both LCD flat panel monitors and CRT flat-screen monitors are fast gaining popularity as a much sleeker and more modern alternative to traditional, bulky monitors of yesterday. An LCD or liquid crystal display is characterized by a thin and flat display device that is composed of either colour or monochrome pixels that are arranged in front of a light source or a reflector. There are two types of LCDs: Tran missive and reflective displays. These types differ according to the source of light. A reflective LCD is illuminated by exterior light. A common example of a reflective LCD is the display of a digital watch. Meanwhile, a transmissive display draws its light source from the back through a backlight. This category of LCDs usually requires high luminance levels. Televisions, computer displays, PDAs and mobile phones use transmissive LCDs.

Flat screen monitors have significant advantages over the traditional CRT monitors. Because these monitors are perfectly flat visually and physically, they offer a clearer, more vivid and undistorted pictures from any angle. The images on a flat panel monitor is much more crisp and high quality. This is the reason why flat screen monitors significantly reduce eye strain among its users, another important advantage. There is no curvature on the screen’s surface that will distort any on-screen images. And since the pictures are sharper with more brilliant colours, staring at a flat screen monitor becomes more of a pleasure than a strain. Flat screen monitors are also much more ergonomic. This means that these types of monitors follow ergonomic requirements and thus add comfort and convenience for the worker. The flat screen monitor is viewable from any angle and is typically fitted on a swivel base with adjustable headlight. This allows for more freedom of movement for the user since the flat screen monitor can be easily adjusted to meet the specific viewing needs. Flat screen monitors are also very space-efficient taking up less desk real estate than older computer monitors. Most LCD flat screen monitors are only about an inch thick and weighs nearly five kilograms.

Career in Architecture

Anyone who is talented in design, imagining how a house or building could be constructed or who likes to draw may have the talent to find a successful career in architecture. An architect is responsible for designing and planning the interior workings and foundation of a home or building. Architects are responsible for drawing up plans and blueprints for towering city buildings, small country homes and luxurious mansions. A successful architect must be versatile and imaginative while maintaining respect for the customer’s wishes. There are a number of jobs available in the world of architecture and designing homes may be a career in itself. A qualified individual may produce a blueprint, which consists of both interior and exterior elevations, foundation and floor plans, roof details, electrical layouts, cross sections and other general instructions. In order to find a career in architecture, an individual must become licensed through an accrediting agency. In addition, an architect must become familiar with building codes, local laws and regulations and must be skilled in their craft. In order to learn this information, architectural hopefuls must pursue a college degree and learn firsthand how the process works.

In addition to designing a home or building, architecture also includes making adjustments to already developed plans. This may include altering blueprints for a home or business in order to be customized to the individual’s needs. Many individuals hire an architect to design their construction, but others decide to enlist a professional later. If problems arise in the construction or they simply need a helping hand, many individuals and companies turn to the world of architecture for a professional evaluation and redesign. Concerns surrounding both energy costs and safety have, in recent years, prompted many areas to require an architect’s seal be placed on a blueprint prior to construction. In addition to the actual design process, many architects review plans and offer consultation services on independent creations. While many architects find great success within a firm or working directly with homebuilders, many find that they are happy working on a freelance or consultant basis. This means that they work directly with the company or individual, own and operate their own business and handle every decision within the company. The freedom of self employment in the world of architecture can be very fulfilling, both financially and emotionally. Much like a doctor, lawyer or accountant who branches out into their own private practice, an architect may also enjoy that same freedom.

How to choose hard drive for your computer

Hard drives come in many different sizes and configurations. How much data a hard drive can hold is measured in gigabytes (GB). The latest hard drives can hold anywhere from 80 GB to 1000 GB (1 TB)! When buying a hard drive, size isn't the only factor to look at, however. By choosing the right hard drive for your needs, you'll enjoy your computer more. Hard drives are so inexpensive these days it makes no sense whatsoever to get one that doesn't fulfill your needs. For business or basic home use, an 80 GB hard drive should suffice. If you plan on downloading music, movies, or installing a lot of games on your computer, your hard drive should be at least 160 GB. For laptop users, the same space requirements apply, however, many laptops come with small hard drives.

You can have a huge hard drive, but it will be worthless if it doesn't move data fast enough for your computer! To find data, hard drives have platters on spindles that spin, similar to a CD. How fast a hard drive spins is measured in RPM (revolutions per minute). The higher a hard drive's RPM is, the faster it will perform. Desktop hard drives almost always have 7200 RPM hard drives. Laptop hard drives can range from 4200 RPM to 5400 RPM for budget and midrange uses and 7200 RPM for high end use. Hard drives with RPMs of 10,000 or more are available, but those are mainly for gamers, computer enthusiasts, and servers.

A hard drive's cache is also another important performance indicator. A hard drive's cache will hold frequently accessed data for faster access by the computer. A good hard drive will have at least 8 MB of cache. As with RPM, the more cache a hard drive has, the better. Hard drives generally have either an SATA or IDE connection. Both connections are for attaching the hard drive to the motherboard via a cable so that data can be sent and received to and from the computer and drive. SATA is the newest connection and is better than IDE in that it can be faster and uses a much smaller cable. IDE, however, is just as fast as IDE in real world performance testa and hard drives that use IDE are cheaper than SATA hard drives. However, IDE hard drives use large cables that can restrict airflow. Fortunately, you can buy a rounded IDE cable that is not as big for $5-$10 at almost any computer supply store or online computer part retailer, such as Newegg.com or Fry's Electronics.

Satellite Communication Technology

Satellites have been orbiting the earth for several decades now, and are constantly contributing to the evolution of global communication. Satellite cell phones have made it possible for people to make phone calls from anywhere in the world, no matter how remote their location, and have been extremely useful in coordination of many activities ranging from scientific exploration to military operations. Portable satellite radio is another important technology that has emerged in recent years, allowing users to subscribe to and access radio channels from around the world for either entertainment or informational purposes.

One small problem with satellite communication technology, however, is the sheer distance involved in communicating with orbiting satellites, which can cause a slight delay in transmission time. This, of course, is of no consequence to satellite radio, but it can be a slight problem for two-way communication services such as broadband and phone. The only way to reduce the time delay involved in satellite transmission is to use lower orbits for satellites, thus reducing the distance involved in transmission. Lower orbits are already being used for some purposes, but there are many challenges that must be overcome in order to make such a transition. Advancements in satellite technology have been plentiful in the past few years, and more are expected in the future. It will be very interesting to watch the development of this evolving technology over the coming years and beyond.

Spam Filtering Softwares

In today world on internet we see many ads almost on all big and small sites targeting anti spam software and anti spam appliances. Companies and enterprises from all industries can take their performance and productivity to the next level by investing in information technologies. Increasing and maintaining high performance is an achievable goal, provided companies focus their efforts on enhancing the efficiency of applied tools. Dynamic control of the company’s existing applications and optimal use of its IT investments allows for the seizure of new business opportunities as well as for the development of new competitive advantages. Investing in information technology is not sufficient; companies are faced with the stringent need to find a comprehensive solution to tasks such as software design, construction, testing and maintenance. All these aspects are encompassed in what is referred to as software engineering.

Software engineering has proven to be not only an indispensable tool in the smooth functioning of a company or an enterprise, but a valuable one when it comes to performance tuning. Software engineering lies at the bottom of the constant change that we are all witnessing in the world today. Software engineering plays a major part in building the tools that enable computers to make this change. Therefore, the more pervasive computers and applications become, the more important is the role of software engineering. Software engineering encompasses everything from the development of database structures to working on embedded software or writing consumer-level applications. The integral role of software engineering in the development of software applications requires conceptual and design skills, in addition to programming ones.

Registry Cleaning Software

Are you struggling with a sluggish PC? Errors popping up all the time, programs not starting, or worse the blue screen of death? It's possible that you're suffering from registry errors on your PC and you don't even realize it. Your registry files hold a vast amount of information about your computer, its software, and hardware. Everything from file locations, device driver information, and even desktop shortcuts has information in the registry. Over time this area of your computer can become bogged down with old information. Information about programs that have since been un-installed or removed. This extra information can cause windows to hang or freeze when it goes searching for valid info it needs, only to get slowed down and thrown off track due to old files and errors.

The registry cleaning process isn't as technical as you might think. The first step is an initial scan performed by the software looking for items like we described in the previous section. These might be old deleted files, invalid registry keys, or empty lines in your registry. After the complete scan has is done the software then moves onto the repair process. You have two options to repair the troubles that the software found during it's scan. One, you can have the registry cleaning software make the corrections automatically for you. Many first time users select this as their repair method, how ever it can cause more trouble then good. The second alternative to repair the items found during the scan is to manually review each item before it's repaired. While this can take a bit more time, it will ensure that valid registry entries are not deleted during the cleaning process.

GPS enabled Cell Phones

Today, cell phones are made more innovative by applying technologically advanced applications such as GPS or Global Positioning System. Equipped with this remarkable device, cell phones can now operate beyond their basic functions. With the GPS system, cell phones can be used as a tracking device that enables people find the right places or even hunt down a relative or friend on his exact location. GPS or Global Positioning System is a device used to pin down people’s specific location anywhere on earth. The central hub of the system depends on “24 satellites” that move around the earth two times a day. The identification of certain locations was made possible using fully operational devices that include a series of receivers and satellites.
The information gathered by the satellites are being transformed back to the earth using exact timing indicators to receivers such as GPS cell phones. In this way, the hunted person’s exact location is identified based on altitude, latitude, and longitude measurements. Today, GPS-enabled cell phones are being used beyond their usual features. With the help of GPS, people can now locate new addresses and navigate a new place without the difficulty of turning to your maps every now and then. With GPS, cell phones can demonstrate the exact areas where to turn right or left. Hence, the need for a true GPS tracking device is lessened as more and more cell phone companies are gradually employing the utilization of GPS. Most cell phone companies believe that the utilization of GPS cell phones are important in today’s modern world. One of the probable profits that the commercial market can gain is the distribution of graphical advertisements on mobile phones with the help of GPS. Indeed, with the introduction of GPS cell phone in the market today, people will have to change their units again just to cope up with the ever-changing world of the communication industry.

Web Animation and Designing

At a basic level animation can be thought of as a flicker of life in objects. Animation has become popular because real life has movement and the human eye is naturally attracted to movement. Over the last 100 years animation has developed into a huge industry. Computer animation has advanced rapidly, and is now approaching the point where movies can be created with characters so lifelike as to be hard to distinguish from real actors. This involved a move from 2D to 3D, the difference being that in 2D animation the effect of perspective is created artistically, but in 3D objects are modeled in an internal 3D representation within the computer, and are then 'lit' and 'shot' from chosen angles, just as in real life, before being 'rendered' to a 2D bitmapped frame.

Animations can be used in various ways on a web page such as making a log presentation more interesting by activating charts that dynamically show changes over time. Again animated games are very popular on the Web, especially 3D games. Animation attracts the attention as it is dynamic. For example animated buttons on a web page attract more attention than the static buttons. When we speak of types of animations, the simplest type is an animated GIF. Animated GIFs are popular because they are easy to create and don’t require special software for viewing.

Flash is widely used to create animations for the Web because Flash animations are usually small in size and most Web users have the Flash player installed in their web browsers. In the future the animations on the Web will be more interactive and 3D animations will be widely used. Web animations will be used widely for education and entertainment. The gaming industry will increase its presence on the Web and support 3D and interactive animations. Animations that use simulations will be used for training and education. A lot of focus will be on multi user interactions and 3D animations and on making the Web more and more interactive.

Computer Forensics

Computer Forensics is the scientific study of computers or computer related data in relation to an investigation by a law enforcement agency for use in a court of law. While this technology may be as old as computers themselves, the advances in technology are constantly revising this science. While all computer languages are created with ones and zeros, it's much easier to track what was done when, although by whom continues to be problematic. Forensic science has done well to keep up with the task of tracking and tracing what is done and creation of a timeline in an attempt to reconstruct a possible crime. Although it's possible to clean and remove data from a hard drive, most people simply think that a delete key really removed the data. In actuality, the delete key simply removed the file location from an index file and the actual data is still safely on the system. It's up to the data recovery skills of the forensic computer personnel to capture and restore that data without modification.

Computer forensics can be used to track emails, instant messaging and just about any other form of computer related communications. This can be necessary, especially in the world where computers and data travel around the world in seconds. Packet sniffers can literally be placed within a data stream and provide information on what's running through the network in real time. This is really phenomenal considering the millions upon millions of data packets moving through any individual part of the network. Computer forensic science is an interesting niche in the law enforcement field that is seldom considered as a career. As it's relatively new, the field is considered by many to be wide open for anyone with the initiative to learn the skills. Unlike many computer related jobs, a computer forensic specialist will not be outsourced to a country on the other side of the world. The confidentiality of the data is just too sensitive to allow it to travel throughout the world just to save a little cash.

Web Conferencing Software Can Improve Your Business

Web conferencing software can be used to give sales presentations, do product demonstrations, give online training and to meet with anybody anywhere across the globe. All that is required is that all the meeting parties should have access to an adequate Internet connection. Several factors need to be considered when you are looking for an online meeting and web conferencing solution. Factors that will determine the success of you online meetings and web conferences are as follow. The greater the complexity of the solution the more scarce IT staff will have to be involved to make it work. Online meeting and web conferencing software is available that is so simple to operate that all staff, even those that are practically computer illiterate, can use it.

Some solutions are really difficult to implement, requiring in-depth information technology skills. You require a fault-tolerant architecture that provides you with high online meeting reliability and availability. Your web conferencing software must work as you expect it to every time you want to use it. The solution payment plan can greatly impact on its successful implementation. Most providers will charge you on a pay-as-you-use basis. This payment option works against successful implementation. An increase in productivity can be achieved with a reduction in employee travel and its accompanying costs and discomfort. Your staff should have the confidence to frequently meet online to increase productivity with co-workers, employees and customers. The easier the software is to use, the more frequently it will be used. Your Internet meeting software solution should allow your meeting attendees to be in control of the online presentation when so required. The organizer of the meeting should be able to temporarily relinquish control to the rest of the participants. Your web conferencing solution must make clear economic sense. Online meeting software is available that will give you the above functionality for a flat fee of around $50 or $40 per month, depending on whether you take a monthly or yearly subscription.

End of the Internet

For months there has been a rising concern about the surging growth in the amount of data flying across the internet. The threat according to some industry groups, analysts and researchers, stems mainly from the increasing visual richness of online communication and entertainment - video clips and movies, social networks and multiplayer games. Moving images take far more bandwidth than normal sounds and data. These images are hefty rivers of digital bits as they traverse the internet gateways and pipes. According to a study, last year a social networking site consumed as much bandwidth as the entire internet did in 2000.

According to a report, a research firm projected that user demand for the internet could outpace network capacity by 2011. The title of a debate scheduled next month at a technology conference in the Boston sums up the angst: “The end of the internet?" But the internet traffic surge represents more a looming challenge than catastrophe. Even those most concerned are not predicting a lights-out internet crash. Heavy traffic in the internet may lead to heavy delays and sloe downloads. According to researchers the internet will not collapse, but there will be a growing class of stuff that we will not be able to do online. But among this bad news there is good news too, and that is the technology for handling such massive internet traffic is advancing at an impressive pace as well.

Computer Networks: Routers, Firewall and Print Server

Router: A router is a device that has several Ethernet ports on the back of the device. One of the connectors will be labeled WAN. You should connect the WAN port to the Ethernet connection on a broadband source, such as a cable or DSL modem. The other ports on the router can be connected other computers or switches/hubs that will share the WAN connection. Routers allow you to share your broadband connection with multiple computers in your house. Rather than connecting your computer directly into your cable or DSL modem you connect the router to the cable or DSL modem. Now any computer that you connect to the router will have access to the Internet. If you run out of ports on your router you can always connect an additional switch to the router. To connect a switch to a router simply connects the switch’s "uplink" port to one of the routers Ethernet ports. Of course, don’t connect to the router’s WAN port. The WAN port should only be connected to something such as a cable or DSL router.

Firewall: A firewall controls traffic flow between your network and the Internet. A firewall can be either hardware or software. Windows XP SP2 or higher includes a software firewall. A hardware firewall is included with most routers. A firewall is a very good idea. It can protect you from inbound virus attempts. By inbound virus attempt I mean other computers that will connect to your computer and attempt to infect your computer. You do not want to run a computer directly connected to the Internet, without a firewall. There are just too many other computers out there that can connect and infect you without you even noticing.

Print Server: Just like you can buy a device to allow you to share a hard drive, you can do the same with a printer. A print server connects directly to your printer. Your printer is then shared to all of your computers on the network. This is convent because you do not need to leave the printer hooked to a computer, which must be turned on to print.

Computer Networks: Hub and Switch

Home networks are becoming more common. People want to be able to share a single broadband Internet connection to several computers in the house. There are many different devices that you can use to make up your home network. If you have never heard network terminology device names like router, hub, etc may seem confusing. The purpose of most of these devices is to control how the network passes around information. This information is sent in the form of "packets". I will refer to the term packet several times in this article. It simply means the data that the network is transporting. I will now explain the purpose of the major components of a home network.

Hub: A hub is a device that has several Ethernet ports on the back of the device. One of these ports will likely be labeled “Uplink”. This port allows you to connect multiple hubs together, if you run out of ports on your hub. If you do not have an uplink port on your hub, the hub cannot be easily extended if you run out of ports. A hub is a device that attaches multiple computers on an Ethernet network. If you have a number different computers that you want to connect together, you could connect each to the hub. Any packet that is sent out by any computer on the network will immediately be transmitted to the other computers. Each computer will determine if the packet was really intended for it, and filter out packets that were intended for other computers. You really should not use a hub in a modern home network. You should always use a switch in place of a hub. Switches will be discussed in the next section.

Switch: A switch is a device that has several Ethernet ports on the back of the device. One of these ports will likely be labeled “Uplink”. This port allows you to connect multiple switches together, if you run out of ports on your switch. If you do not have an uplink port on your switch, the switch cannot be easily extended if you run out of ports. A switch serves the same function as a hub. It allows you to connect multiple computers together, so that they can exchange packets. However, a switch is much more efficient than a hub. A switch will only send Ethernet packets to the computer that the packet was intended for. Because of this you should always use a switch in place of a hub.

Telescope And Astronomy

Galileo is often thought of as inventing the telescope. He didn’t invent the telescope but he was the first person to turn one toward the night sky. And the observations he made created the new science of modern astronomy where telescopes are used to help us understand our universe, our place in it, and how it works.Galileo first heard about the mysterious telescope in 1609 and set out to make a copy for himself. This first telescope magnified images about three times. And over the course of a decade Galileo continued to make more telescopes and his most powerful one magnified images about ten times. This telescope enabled him to see things never before seen. And it enabled him to change our view of the universe and of the objects in the sky.
The first thing that Galileo turned his telescope to was the moon and by observing it over the course of many nights he made an important discovery. He saw that dark areas on the surface grew and shrunk depending on where the moon was in relation to the sun. From this he made the correct deduction that these dark areas were shadows cast by craters and mountains. He further explained with geometry that the height of the mountains and depth of the craters could be correctly calculated. This was an astonishingly important revelation in our view of the universe because it was previously believed that the moon was a smooth surfaced object. Another extraordinary observation, and the most important, that Galileo made was the discovery of the four largest moons around Jupiter. They were previously unviewable but with his ten-power telescope he could see them. And after viewing them over the course of several nights he observed that they moved. With further careful observation and calculation he proved that they revolved around Jupiter. And this was a universe changing observation because it was previously believed that everything in the universe revolved around the Earth. Galileo went on to make many telescopes and to make many other important observations in both the night and day sky including the discovery of spots on the sun and the discovery of the rings of Saturn. His observations in the sky spurred on many other telescope makers and astronomers to further explore the amazing and mysterious objects in the sky. But more importantly he also spurred on other astronomers to apply the laws and lessons of mathematics and logic to their observations in a quest to understand how the universe works.

Architectural Outsourcing

The outsourcing industry worldwide is booming. There are very few Information Technology sectors which are not into outsourcing. The question arises, that when everybody is jumping on the outsourcing bandwagon for obvious benefits, then why not the construction and real estate industry. One aspect where the real estate industry can immediately benefit is in outsourcing designing of 3d models or renders of their present and future projects. It is widely acknowledged that the 3d representation of a real estate venture creates a stunning impression in the mind of the buyers, if designed appropriately.Today, architects and builders recruit in-house designers who design 3d models for them. But then most of these people are not 3D specialists, not at least specialists in designing 3d models for real estate ventures. To achieve this purpose one needs the help of civil engineers, architects and designers working in tandem. Also, the cost of outsourcing this work is much less than compared to getting it executed in-house.Also, to allocate resources to 3D modelling is a problematic affair for such consultants and companies as their core business is construction and not 3d design. To tap this opportunity many companies have emerged worldwide who specialize specifically in 3D modelling.

For an architect or builder to outsource such work to these specialist companies, is a proposition of significant benefits. Not only it saves them costs but also takes the headache off their shoulders. Also, the architectural expertise and the design expertise of 3D modelling companies can be combined to create life-like models which would be utilized on the project website, brochures and other sale materials. After all, a real estate venture is not a virtual commodity and folks would like to have a glimpse of the future before they invest. Many architects have already realized this and a significant amount of work is being outsourced. Its time others realize it too and make a head start.

Genomes

However, one of the main purposes of genomes' study has been already established. We can now study the origin of humans. Part of the efforts in understanding the origins of man is finding out what makes us distinct and how we have made ourselves separate from all other creatures. Recent studies featured by the National Geographic that have shown that our species coexisted with other humanoids have also highlighted questions regarding what has allowed us to outlive them.In the course of these endeavours, scientists have found out the important role genes in understanding human evolution. This is one of the reasons why scientists have found it compelling to study chimpanzee genome in the course of studying human characteristics. Chimpanzees, being co closely related to humans, provide a glimpse to the evolutionary past and current stage of human development. By mapping the respective genome maps of humans and chimpanzees and marking genes against specific characteristics, we find out the specific genes that correspond to human characteristics.Comparative genomics is a scientific process that investigates the similarities and contrasts of the genome of one species to another. It involves the analysis of axons, the level and canters of coding in the DNA, sequencing, gene location, length and function in the organism. Comparative genome analyses between humans and chimps have yielded key information in understanding primate evolution. There is undoubtedly a great deal similarities between human chimp genome, new researches have also have advanced knowledge of the difference between the two sets of genes. One of the key differences that have been discovered develop from the total removal of genes to the partial additions and removal that occur in nucleotides that can cause dormancy of genes, particularly those that influence immunological systems.

Global Warming

Global warming is happening and some people still think it’s not happening which is just fine, but even they have to admit the climate is changing. The planet constantly altering, we have to decide what we will do to adapt. Animals and plants are already changing the way they act by blooming and migrating sooner. With technology constantly changing, new variables are added to this equation of global warming that pessimistic scientists must take into consideration before they doom the planet. Now, for all those sceptics who think global warming doesn’t exist, here are 5 facts about global warming.

1. The Planets Temperature Has Increased And Average of 1 degree Fahrenheit (0.6 of a degree Celsius) in the last 100 years. With the increase in green house gasses, the suns rays stay trapped and increase the world’s temperature. It is predicted that the temperature will increase in coming years because more and more of the suns heat remains trapped here on earth.

2 The cause of the increase of climate change is Human activity producing pollution and green house gasses according to many scientists. Heavy industry vigorously emits carbon dioxide, Nitrous Oxide, Ozone, and other gasses. With an increase in competition to create the most products of the best quality comes an increase in the production of green house gasses, but with new laws and filters, the amount of these gasses being emitted into the air has decreased.

3. If the temperature of the planet increases to a certain point, methane from the ocean can be released into the air and drastically increase the temperature of the earth to dangerous levels.

4. People say that deforestation is a contributor to global warming right? According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), deforestation occurs at a rate of 53,000 square miles per year.

5. There are more than 50 things you can do to stop or slow global warming including, lowering your thermostat, choosing energy efficient appliances and, taking showers instead of baths. Global warming or not, preventing the waste of energy doesn’t hurt anyone.

Random Access Memory

RAM is an acronym of random access memory. It refers to data storage formats, with the help of which we can access data in any order i.e. random and not in sequence. In computer, RAM is considered to be the main memory (or primary storage). RAM is considered volatile storage because as soon as the power supply is stopped, the contents of RAM are lost. Hence, the data in RAM stays as long as the computer is running. RAM is much faster to read from and write to, when compared to other storage devices like hard disk, CDROM, Floppy disk etc. RAM can be both read and written; therefore, it is sometimes also called read-write memory.

There are two fundamental types of RAM: (a) Dynamic RAM (DRAM)(b) Static RAM (SRAM)

(a) Dynamic RAM (DRAM): Dynamic random access memory is the most common kind of RAM, which stores each bit of a data in a separate capacitor and a transistor. Capacitors tend to leak electrons, thus the need for recharging arises. Hence, DRAM, unlike SRAM needs to have its storage cells refreshed or given an electric charge every few milliseconds. This refresh requirement operation is from where dynamic RAM gets its name. DRAM is a volatile memory because it loses data when the power supply is stopped.

(b) Static RAM (SRAM): Static random access memory is the kind of RAM that holds its data without external refresh, as long the power remains applied, unlike DRAM that needs to be periodically refreshed. It is a type of memory that is faster and more reliable than DRAM (Dynamic RAM). Since, Static RAM operates on the principle of moving current, it is a volatile memory.

Fluorescent Light

Understanding how fluorescent light tubes work begins with a basic understanding of how light is produced. The basic unit of light is the light photon, which is released by an atom when its electrons become energized. As you may know, electrons are negatively charged particles that orbit around an atom’s positively charged nucleus. Electrons have different levels of energy, and move when energy is gained or lost by the atom. When heat passes energy to an atom, electrons quickly shift to another orbital, and almost instantaneously jump back to their original positions. As the return jump takes place, extra energy can be released in the form of a light photon, thus creating light.
We have all heard that fluorescent bulbs are more efficient than incandescent ones, but why? Fluorescent bulbs utilize a more energy efficient process of producing the light that we see. The main difference between incandescent lighting and fluorescent lighting is in the process of stimulating the atoms. Incandescent light bulbs excite atoms through the introduction of heat, resulting in an excess of unused heat energy. Fluorescent light bulbs, on the other hand, utilize a chemical reaction to excite atoms without the same excess heat energy. Both types of bulbs create ultraviolet light, which is not visible to humans. But only fluorescent bulbs utilize a substance that converts the ultraviolet light to visible light, resulting in less wasted energy.

Windows Vista: Improvements

The new Windows Vista operating system was made to be the most reliable Windows yet. Automatic Recovery: Windows Vista automatically diagnoses and recovers an unbootable system to a usable state with the help of the Startup Repair Tool (SRT) a step-by-step, diagnostics-based trouble-shooter that provides users with a guided recovery experience for no-boot situations.

As with every new operating system Windows Vista is not without its flaws. Most errors and issues out there have a work around. With time Vista will replace XP and users are sure to embrace many of the new Vista features.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

DNA Fingerprinting

Incorporating the legal system into using DNA evidence is often referred to as DNA forensic profiling. It is being used more and more to correctly identify the guilty criminal of a crime. It can be said of it to be the most effective way to identify the suspect and victim in any crime scene. By using the DNA print of someone, we can be certain to whether they are guilty of the crime committed or not. A DNA test can be used therefore not only to convict the criminal, but to be sure who the real victim of the crime committed was. Since this technology is relatively new, there are even certain organizations that are dedicated to help people who have previously been convicted of a crime and are now serving their sentences who perhaps, were innocent of the crime committed.

There have been many examples of people being released from prison after a legal DNA test showed that the DNA of the previously convicted criminal does not match that which was found at the crime scene. In many cases, some of these innocent people had already completed over half of their time sentenced in prison. Most of these DNA testing centers also provide other DNA testing services as well. There are a wide range of services that are offered, such things include doing a paternity test, finding out ancestry, finding out if you may have Native American Indian genes, or doing prenatal genetic testing. By finding out your DNA print, there is so much knowledge to be gained and your ancestry can be tracked back many years.

Using Nanotechnology for Enhancing Fuel Ability

As we are facing the uncertainly in supply of crude oil, as well as affluent prices, other fuel source is a happening and hot topic. An interesting option could be ethanol, now made out of plants like corn and sugar cane. Companies and universities are eagerly working to grow this process of making ethanol from many other kinds of plant substance; that might considerably augment the amount of ethanol accessible as fuel. Nanotechnology might be to assist this important effort. Researchers at Michigan State University are trying nanotechnology in a neat trick. They are heritably engineering corn to comprise the required enzyme. The plan is to make the enzyme unmoving until activated by high temperatures. When the cellulous part of the corn, like stalk, is procedures, the high giving out temperatures might set in motion the enzyme and change the cellulous to starch. This would avoid the added cost of creation the enzyme separately.

Researchers at the University of Rochester are as well studying how bacteria select an exacting enzyme, or enzymes, to break at specific kind of plant or other bio mass. They expect to make enzymes, which could change cellulous to ethanol in one step, other than the two steps used by the accessible processes. The advantage of cars that could be filled up with either fuel or ethanol has been verified in Brazil, they use much of its sugar cane crop to make ethanol. Using nanotechnology / genetic engineering to make ethanol from cellulous has the latent to make a serious dent in our use of crude oil. However we do require keeping an eye on some safety issues.

Antivirus Software

Antivirus software is very important for any computer system. Antivirus software protects the computers from various types of malicious programs, viruses and Trojans. If you want to make sure that you’re protected from viruses, you should get some antivirus software. This software can offer peace of mind, even for experienced computer users who would be unlikely to open a simple virus.

Antivirus software works in two ways. Firstly, it has a big ‘dictionary’ of viruses, allowing it to scan files and flag any that are known to be viral. Secondly, the software monitors the system for any suspicious activity. One method involves creating decoy files that are hidden from the user and monitoring them to see if they are altered – if they are, then it was almost certainly a virus.

The two giants of the antivirus industry are McAfee and Norton. They are both commercial software based on yearly subscriptions, and at this point there’s little to choose between them – some people swear by one, but just as many will swear by the other. However, both are quite expensive, especially if you buy them as part of the complete security suite.

If you want a free antivirus program, the best around is widely considered to be AVG (the Free Edition). It’s a small but effective antivirus application, popular firstly for being free and secondly for using hardly any system resources to run. AVG is capable of running very fast, even on older computers.

Buying a Flat Panel Monitor

While buying a flat panel Monitor we often get confused. We always look for the best flat monitors. So, here are some tips that will help you to buy flat panel monitors-
1. Flat panel monitors use interfaces - analog or digital. The most up-to-date models have digital interface but an all-digital configuration costs more. If you are attaining an analog flat panel, you should attach it with a digital interface to your video card with a digital out jack to mainstream the signal.

2. Pixel-refresh response time: In a LCD display, the time required to switch from light to dark objects or vice versa, is referred to as Pixel-refresh response time. If the response time is poor (more than 40ms), you may see ghosting effect, i.e., the image seems to remain longer on the screen than it actually is!

Whereas in a text environment this would hardly matter, in a gaming or media centric environment the effect could be a nuisance. More inexpensive models give more ghosting than their steep alternatives. Also, pixel-refresh response time is not brought up on the monitors. You need to watch thoroughly to judge the performance of each model.

3. Viewing angle: One trouble with a flat panel monitor is its viewing angle. Laptop users must have experienced this problem. Moving away from the monitor in any way causes the display to look black! Different models offer different viewing angles horizontally and vertically.

4. Size: bigger is better, but with flat panel, remember 15-inch screen gives you the experience of a 17-inch CRT monitor. If you can pay for 17-inch flat panel, by all means, go for it, if not, a 15-inch screen should not be a disappointment.

Other things to check when buying a flat panel are guarantees and warranties. A three-year warranty is sufficient. People change the monitor settings in stores and while purchasing; make sure that you examine the piece thoroughly. You now have the basic information; all you need is time to check out the market!

Employee Surveillance

Employee Surveillance is an emerging trend. It is a very powerful method of keeping one's business and employees in proper control. Using spy cameras for secret surveillance is not a surprise anymore. There are many examples, like banks, super markets or parking lots. However, one example of secret surveillance that is employee surveillance is widely debatable. Sure, the company has to protect its equipment or intellectual property. However, employee, as every civilian of a modern society has to have rights to his or her own privacy.

One example is that of Restaurant Business. Restaurants are a savior for those of use who do not have time to have lunch or dinner at home. When we go to a restaurant, we expect everything to be smooth from clean plates to nice service. And of course, we expect to have a tasty meal every time. But can we always be sure that we get exactly what we want? So how can we be sure that we eat a clean and tasty food? Well, secret employee surveillance helps us this time. Maybe no one would ever knew that such things happen, if no spy cameras were installed to monitor employees during their work day. In this case, employee surveillance at least, gives us some hope that such employees will think twice before doing something nasty.

In this case employee surveillance is very important. While there are many people who disagree and claim that monitoring employees infringes employee’s rights. They say that employee has to have privacy at home and at work, feel safe and secure all the time. Well, that might be true. However, employing various surveillance tools to monitor employees will definitely decrease the chance of money fraud or other illegal activity. If you warn your employees about spy cameras, they’ll definitely think twice before doing something illegal.

Largest Frog Ever to Hopped on earth

Scientists have found out what they claim as biggest, baddest, and meanest frogy ever to have hopped on earth. This giant frogy is much larger than the ones that are found in the present world. Scientists announced the discovery in north western Madagascar of a bulky amphibian that lived sixty five million to seventy million years ago and it was so nasty that it may have eaten newborn dinosaurs. This brute was larger than any frog that is living today and may be the biggest frog ever to have existed.

Its name, Beelzebufo ampinga, came from Beelzebub, the Greek for devil, and Bufo-Latin for toad. Ampinga means shield, named for armor like part of its anatomy. This frog was 16 inches long and weighed a 4.5 kilogram. It was powerfully built and possessed a very wide mouth and powerful jaws. With the help of its super jaw and claws it hunts down preys. Scientists claim that it is also possible that Beelzebufo took down lizards and mammals and smaller frogs and even considering its size possibly hatchling dinosaurs. This helps us to imagine that what would be the size of this devil frog. This newly discovered creature will provide us an insight to that period and the creatures that ruled planet earth in those times.

Most Powerful Laser Beam Created

Scientists have created a very powerful laser beam. This new laser beam is known as mother of all laser beams. It can focus power equal to all the sunlight heading earth's way. This laser beam can concentrate power up to twenty billion trillion watts per square centimeter. The laser contains three hundred terawatts of power. This power is equivalent to three hundred times the capacity of the entire US electricity grid. And this huge amount of power is concentrated in a 1.3 micron speck- about one hundredth the diameter of a human hair. But this beam cannot be sustained for a long time. This laser beam lasted for thirty femtoseconds. A femtosecond is a millionth of a billionth of a second.

Such high power beams could help scientists develop better proton and electron beams for radiation treatment of cancer. This laser beam can produce this intense beam once every ten seconds whereas other powerful lasers can take an hour to recharge. This laser beam is produced by putting a moderate amount of energy into a very, very short time. In addition to medical use, intense laser beams like these could help researchers explore new frontiers of life. At even more extreme intensities, laser beams could potentially boil the vacuum, which scientists theorize would generate matter by merely focusing light into space.

Signs of Extra-Terrestrial Life

Planets resembling earth can be found orbiting many suns like stars in our galaxy. This theory increases the prospect of finding extraterrestrial life in the vast universe. To know what form of life can evolve in distant planets, it is very essential to know that whether earth like rocky planets exists in the universe. According to a study it is found that between 20% to 60% of stars similar to our sun have conditions favorable for forming rocky planets like earth. The scientists studied six group of stars- all similar to our sun and sorted by age-with the youngest being ten and thirty million years old and the oldest between a billion and three billion years old. They detected discs of cosmic dust around stars in some of the youngest groups surveyed. The dust is believed to be a by product of rocky debris colliding and merging to form planets. Many of these planets will be icy, and some of them will be rocky. This earth like planets can harbor different forms of life. Scientists also predict that there may be objects the same mass as earth. This study gives us vital signs that life may sprout in distant planets and galaxies.

Introduction

Hi everyone....
This is my first blog. And, I am new in this world of blogging.
